Peter Njihia’s fight for justice after surviving a deadly attack planned by Chania Ward MCA and MP

Peter Njihia’s story is not just another tale of political betrayal, it is a brutal account of how far politicians are willing to go to eliminate those who stand in their way.

What started as a strong political alliance between him and the Chania Ward MCA turned into a deadly conflict, one that almost cost him his life. Today, Njihia bears the scars of political persecution, both physically and emotionally, after surviving an assassination attempt that left him in a coma for two weeks.

His photos lying injured in a hospital bed tell a story of a man who dared to challenge the system and paid the price.

During the 2022 elections, Njihia played a crucial role in securing victory for the current Chania Ward MCA. He was not just a campaigner but also a business partner to the MCA, and together, they worked to rally Gen Z voters.

His influence was unmatched, and many young people looked up to him as a voice of reason. But after the elections, things took a dark turn.

The MCA, drunk on power, turned against him. Their business agreement was thrown aside, and Njihia was pushed out. The MCA then brought in his second wife as his personal assistant and placed her in charge of their business.

This betrayal did not go unnoticed. Many young voters who had backed the MCA because of Njihia’s influence felt deceived.

Their anger boiled over when the MCA and the area MP supported Zakayo’s controversial finance bill. Njihia, still respected in the community, refused to be silent. When the youth took to the streets in protest, the MCA, now fearing for his political survival, reached out to him.

He begged Njihia to intervene, to convince the Gen Z voters of Chania Ward to halt the demonstrations. But Njihia, seeing the MCA for the sellout he was, flatly refused.

This defiance marked the beginning of a well-orchestrated plan to silence him permanently. The MCA knew that Njihia’s influence was too strong. He had already lost the trust of the youth, and now he was hearing whispers that Njihia was planning to run for the MCA seat in 2027.

The thought of facing him at the ballot box sent the MCA into panic mode. Instead of preparing for a fair political contest, he allegedly plotted to get rid of Njihia completely.

One night, as Njihia was heading home from work, a group of armed men ambushed him. They beat him mercilessly, inflicting life-threatening injuries.

Thinking they had killed him, they dumped his body into the Chania River, expecting it to wash away all evidence. But fate had other plans. Passersby discovered Njihia’s unconscious body the next morning and rushed him to Thika Level 5 Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.

He had suffered severe brain injuries, leading to a subdural hematoma that required immediate surgery.

Photos of Njihia lying in his hospital bed, wrapped in bandages and connected to medical equipment, paint a gruesome picture of what he endured.

His face, swollen and bruised, his body marked with injuries, is proof of the brutality he faced at the hands of politically sponsored goons. The attack was meant to silence him, but instead, it exposed the dark reality of how some politicians will go to any lengths to protect their power.

For 14 days, Njihia lay in a coma, fighting for his life. But even as he struggled to recover, his enemies were not done with him.

Reports indicate that the MCA and the MP sent unidentified men, believed to be assassins, to finish the job in the hospital.

When they failed, the MCA himself tried to gain access to Njihia’s ward, pretending to be his employer. Hospital security, sensing foul play, blocked him from entering, preventing what could have been another attempt on his life.

Fearing for his safety, Njihia was transferred to another hospital in secrecy. But he knew that as long as he remained in Kenya, his life would always be in danger.

Njihia’s story is not just his own it is a warning to anyone who dares to challenge the corrupt system. If a man who once worked to bring leaders to power could be treated this way, what about the ordinary citizens? Those responsible for his attack must be brought to justice.

The people of Chania Ward must not forget what happened. Justice must be served, and the truth must come out.
