A shocking case has emerged from Naivasha involving Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Josiah Odongo, who has been accused of sexual harassment.
The incident was reported on 24th October 2034 under OB No. 68 but has allegedly seen little progress due to interference from the accused himself.
This has raised serious concerns about abuse of power and the failure of law enforcement to address such allegations with urgency.
The victim, a police officer stationed in Naivasha, reported that the DCC harassed them and later used his influential position to obstruct investigations.
As the Chair of the Subcounty Security Committee, Odongo allegedly instructed the police to slow down the case, creating unnecessary delays.
This has left the victim feeling vulnerable and exposed, with no meaningful steps taken to ensure justice is served.
Reports indicate that law enforcement officers, including the Investigating Officer and officials from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Naivasha, confiscated the victim’s phone under the guise of conducting investigations.
However, little progress has been made, and the phone remains inaccessible to the victim.
Meanwhile, the DCC has reportedly continued to intimidate the complainant, pressuring them to withdraw the case.
In a bid to further isolate the victim, the DCC allegedly had their office locked, adding psychological distress to an already traumatic situation.
Odongo is said to openly boast about being untouchable, claiming to have protection from senior figures within the Ministry.
This has heightened public outrage, as it suggests a culture of impunity where powerful individuals evade accountability for their actions.
The lack of an arrest or even the taking of a formal statement from the DCC raises troubling questions about the integrity of the system tasked with protecting victims of harassment.
This case has sparked widespread concern over the misuse of power and the apparent inability of the security apparatus to enforce justice impartially.
It highlights a recurring issue where victims of workplace harassment in public institutions face significant barriers in their pursuit of justice.
The fact that a senior government official can manipulate the system to his advantage paints a grim picture of the challenges faced by those who dare to speak out.
Calls for swift action and independent investigations are growing louder as the public demands accountability.
This incident not only puts the spotlight on Josiah Odongo but also underscores the urgent need for systemic reforms to ensure that such abuses of power are addressed decisively.
The victim deserves justice, and the perpetrators of such acts, no matter their rank or connections, must face the full force of the law.
