Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, is facing significant legal challenges with his upcoming reality series, Beast Games, after several female contestants filed a lawsuit against his production company, MrB2024, and Amazon.
The show, which is marketed as the largest reality competition series ever with a $5 million prize, has come under scrutiny for alleged unsafe working conditions and fostering a culture of sexism and misogyny.
According to the lawsuit, the contestants claim they were subjected to hazardous filming environments where they were “underfed and overtired,” with sporadic meals and inadequate medical care.
The legal document further alleges that some participants were hospitalized during the production.
Female contestants also claim to have experienced sexual harassment, and that the show’s overall environment fostered a hostile atmosphere.
The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles in September 2024, emphasizes that the show misclassified contestants as volunteers to avoid paying wages and complying with labor laws.
Some female contestants reportedly felt particularly targeted by this unfair treatment, citing a “systematic culture” of sexism on set.
The lawsuit marks a stark contrast to MrBeast’s usual image as a generous YouTuber known for philanthropy.
Even as this emerges, it may challenge his reputation, especially given the serious nature of the claims and the potential for long-term impacts on his brand and media ventures.
