“I Was Eating Cake” Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Hilariously Explains President William Ruto’s Nyeri Event Absence

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua explained why he did not attend a church service at AIPCA Central Western Archdiocese in Nyeri County, where he was scheduled to accompany President William Ruto.

While attending the centenary celebrations of Our Lady of Sorrows Baricho Catholic Parish in Kirinyaga County, the DP explained that he couldn’t miss the cake served to commemorate the church’s 100th anniversary.

He had planned to attend the centenary event and then leave midway to meet the Head of State at AIPCA Central Western Archdiocese in Nyeri County, but the event became so colorful that he decided to stay until the end.

“I was hurrying to attend another church in Nyeri then I saw there was a cake. I wondered whether an event without eating a cake is complete. So I decided to wait for the cake,” Gachagua revealed.

As a result, he chose to participate in the centenary celebrations held on the grounds of Baricho Primary School following Sunday Holy Mass.

During the service at the AIPCA Central Western Archdiocese in Nyeri, an empty chair was left for the deputy president, raising questions.

The AIPCA service was held in his backyard in Nyeri County, and his absence fueled speculation about the president’s deteriorating relationship with his deputy.

This came just a week after 48 Mt Kenya MPs endorsed Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Administration of National Government, Kithure Kindiki, as their Kingpin.

In what they dubbed the Nyahururu declaration, the regional leaders stated that Kithure Kindiki will act as a liaison with the executive.

The deputy president used the opportunity to encourage the leaders to work for the people.

“As far as I know elections ended and I will focus on working for the people of Kenya,” he noted.

“Every leader should be given an opportunity to work including the president.”
